Day 4

1. Journal-  When have you been embarrassed?  What happened?

Writing Process

Invent-    Creating ideas
Organize- Planning out the essay
Draft-  Practice essay- just get it done and don't worry about grammar.
Revise-  Org, SF, WC, I/C, Voice
Edit-     Grammar-
Publish-  Publish means perfect.

6 Traits

Ideas-      the main message, what it's about- Should be interesting to others.
Organization-  The way it's planned out in paragraphs.  what's first?  What's last?
Voice-   The writer's personality.
Word Choice-  Vocab the writer chooses.
Sentence Fluency-  The way the sentences flow- Short and long.
Conventions -  Grammar.



Narrative Essay-

Personal story that you tell and you use first person.


Comma Splice- I like dogs, dogs are fun.

Run-on-  I like dogs dogs are fun

Fragment- Incomplete sentence:  I like dogs because.

Tense Shift-  I like dogs and dogs were fun.

Subject Verb Agreement:  I likes dogs and dogs is fun.

Pronoun Antecedent Agreement: I like my dog.  They are fun.

Paralellism-  I like dogs, cats and pet.

Simple Sentence:  I like dogs.  (one independent clause)

Compound Sentence-  I like dogs, and they are fun.

Complex Sentence-  I like dogs because they are fun.




4.  Narrative essay notes and assignment-  Pick an interesting story-  1 min- 30 seconds long, start in the middle of the action.

 


4.  HW-  reading Fish Cheeks-  A narrative essay.
